Edgar Earl Hartline Sr., of Ada, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 75 years.
Ed, the son of Edgar and Aliene (Skinner) Hartline, was born February 14, 1948, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. In 1966, he joined the United States Marine Corp. Upon completion of Marine Corp Basic Training, Ed was deployed to Vietnam. He was injured in action on two of his three deployments. After returning home, he started college, attending for two years, at which time he decided he preferred life in the military, so he returned to the Marine Corp. Ed’s absence from the Marine Corp was just long enough that he was required to re-enlist and repeat Marine Corp Basic Training. After several years in the Marine Corp, he stepped away from the Corp but wanted to continue to serve his country. He did so by entering the US Army, a post he would retain until retiring from the US military in 1988. Upon his retirement, Ed began working as a gunsmith, and continued both professionally and as a hobby for the rest of his life. He enjoyed shooting, and hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed is survived by his sons, Edgar Earl Hartline Jr., of Laverty, Oklahoma, and Erice Eugene Hartline, of California; and brothers, Carl Hartline, of Tulsa, and James Hartline, of Chickasha.
