Edgar Eugene Black, 73 Edgar Black, a former Seminole county resident for 42 years passed away December 29, 2011 at his home in Blackwell, Oklahoma at the age of 73. Edgar was born in Lima, Oklahoma on May 5, 1938 to parents, Edgar Maurice Black and Lucille (Thomas) Hoglan. Edgar had a great love for his mother and possessed a high moral standard. Edgar served in the United States Air Force after gradating from High School. Edgar was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church of Wewoka, Oklahoma and a Sooner fan. Edgar was as estimator for Rice Painting and Sandblasting and a self employed building contractor for EB Construction. Being an extremely talented and a self taught man, Edgar loved working with his hands building and drawing house plans. Edgar was a member of the Oklahoma Archaeological Society where he held a honorable position in the organization. He love to hunt arrowheads, which he possessed a large collection that he had found in Seminole county. He was a member of the Builders of America Association, Elk Lodge # 1347 of Blackwell, Oklahoma. Edgar is survived by two sons, Edgar D. Black of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Christopher Black of Temecula, California, two daughters, Katrina Hicks of Cheney, Kansas and Yvonne Matthews of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Edgar is also survived by one brother, Tommy Black of Wewoka, Oklahoma and one sister, Patricia Cokely of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by grandchildren, Peary Robertson, Matthew Robertson, Rachel Farris, Stephanie Cain, Kasey Hall, Ryan Black, Chelsea Black, Courtney Black, Kayla Black, Amy Mooring and Ashly McCoy. Great grandchildren, Manning, Myles, Mattie Sue, Aubri, Trooper and Jourdyn. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Edgar, his stepfather Charles Hoglan, daughter, Casandra Black and granddaughter, Alicia Black. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole, Oklahoma. Jack Shamburger will officiate with burial taking place at Tate Mountain Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are; Eddie Black, Chris Black, Lee Cokely, Bobby Dollarhide, Richard Hicks, and Jimmy Matthews.
