Margret Verdie Lee “Dutch” Pierce, 87 year old longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at her home in Maud. She was born December 12, 1928 in Tilly, Arkansas to parents, James Edward Fountain and Lela Ola (Ross) Fountain. Dutch married Verlin “Charlie” Pierce on December 1, 1950 in Henderson, Texas. Dutch’s early occupations included working at sewing factories and cooking at various restaurants. But her best enjoyment came from her final job working at “Buck’s Quick Stop” in Maud, where she enjoyed conversing with all of the patrons. Dutch was a very caring lady who loved her family very much and was a friend to many. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Mary Pierce of Little Axe, Oklahoma, Alfred and Judy Pierce of Kingston, Oklahoma; one daughter, Janis Rogers of Maud, Oklahoma; one brother, J.L. Fountain of Henderson, Texas; three sisters, Ola Faye Tarbutton of Tyler, Texas, Mattie McKenzie of Troope, Texas, Betty Foster of Henderson, Texas; 13 grandchildren, John and Patience Williams of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Lanisa Fuller of Taft, California, Patricia and Shawn Carter of Maud, Oklahoma, Elizabeth and David O’Day of Colorado, Tommy Little of Maud, Oklahoma, Carrie and Jason Harrison of New Lima, Oklahoma, Christia and Steven Hallinan of Bethel, Oklahoma, Jessica Pierce of Colorado, Delaney Wilson of Colorado, Joleta Mainard of McAlester, Oklahoma, Charity Moore of Kingston, Oklahoma, Cody McKay of Kingston, Oklahoma, Chad Moore of Kingston, Oklahoma; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Dutch was preceded in death by her parents, Lela and James Fountain, by her husband, Charlie Pierce who died July 31, 1986, and by seven siblings. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Larry Chesser officiating the service. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Shawn Carter, Jason Harrison, Dalton Rogers, David O’Day, Clayton Carter, and Clayton Rogers. The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2016.
