Dovie Armetia Cheatwood, 85 Dovie Armetia Cheatwood, longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident passed away Monday October 28, 2013 at her home in Maud, Oklahoma at the age of 85. Dovie was born on December 17, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Jessie Newton Cooley and Mary Alice (Carr) Cooley. Dovie married Garlin Lee Cheatwood on July 20, 1950 in Lexington, Oklahoma. Garlin passed away September 30, 2006. Dovie was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud, Oklahoma. Dovie is survived by two sons, Garlin Dale Cheatwood of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kenneth Lee Cheatwood of Shawnee, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mary Lavonne Goodgion of Maud, Oklahoma, Dorothy Armetia Wallace of Maud, Oklahoma, Beverly Gayle Sanford of Seminole, Oklahoma and Janna Carol Calvert of Maud, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one sister, Valeria Ivie of Quitman, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Marie Cooley; husband, Garlin; one daughter, Belinda Cheatwood; three sisters, Elsie, Josephine and Mary Lou and one brother, Billy Cooley. Funeral services will be held, 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church of Maud, Oklahoma with Rev. Rusty McMullen officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery near Maud, Oklahoma in Pottawatomie County. Funeral services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud, Oklahoma.
