Douglas McDaniel, 76 year old resident of Seminole, Oklahoma passed away at his home on August 14, 2018. Doug was born to J.L. and Pearl McDaniel in Konawa, Oklahoma on June 13, 1942. Doug joined the U.S. Army at the young age of 17 and was trained to serve as an officer. He served battlefront tours of duty as a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, and toured Korea and Japan. While with the army he was an instructor at Marion Military Academy in Alabama. He went on to serve as a First Sergeant and retired as a Sergeant Major E9 after 27 years of service. Doug was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for studying history and weaponry. He enjoyed spending time with family and was known to be generous and kind to all who knew him. Doug is survived by his loving wife Carolyn of the home, his two children, son Douglas Anthony McDaniel, and daughter Karren Ellen McDaniel, siblings Sue White and Don McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Johnny Lester Jr., Mildred Pope, Bill McDaniel, Paul McDaniel and Betty Caton. He was known as “Papa Doug” to his grandchildren, Gage, Tate and Tara Keesee of Holdenville, OK, and Aryn, Addyson and Ainsley Jackson of Frisco, TX. He had a host of special nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart. Close friends that will miss him greatly include his Sister and Brother- in-Law Linda and Larry Hampton of Seminole, OK. Pall Bearers will be Larry Hampton, Randal Hallum, Mark Hallum, Cory Hallum, Ryan Hallum, Zane White, Ronnie Calaway and Cam Dooley. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Trey Richmond, Larry Walls, Mickey Shaw, Don Sneed, Seth Hallum, Cansas Pate, Gil Turpin, Tyler Turpin, Robert Jackson and Aubie Keesee. The funeral service with full military honors will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 910 W. Wrangler Blvd. in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Mark Watson officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
