Douglas Ann (Smith) Collins, age 78 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life Sunday, January 10, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate. Douglas Ann was born March 17, 1937 in Ada, Oklahoma to Douglas Smith and Lois (Cope) Smith. She received a Master’s Degree from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma, and retired from teaching at Latta Elementary. She married Joe Edward Collins August 20, 1955 in Ada, Oklahoma. Douglas Ann loved gardening, raising English Bulldogs, playing cards and reading. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Konawa. She is survived by two sons, Joe Major Collins and wife, Suanne of Mounds, Oklahoma, and Tony Collins and wife, Bobbi of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; two brothers, David Smith and wife, Susan of Ada, Oklahoma, and Dusty Smith and wife, Brenda also of Ada; one brother-in-law, Gene Thomas of Ada; and two grandchildren, Constance and Nathan Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Lois Smith; her husband, Joe Edward Collins on August 5, 2008; and one sister, Lois Jean Thomas.
