Dorothy Narcomey

Dorothy Jean Narcomey, 81 year-old, lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life May 29, 2012 of natural causes at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born November 1, 1930 in Seminole County to Moses and Martha Bean, She attended Pleasant Grove High School graduating in 1947.  Dorothy married Willie Narcomey and he preceded her in death in 1996. Dorothy lived in the Seminole and Bowlegs area all of her life.  She was a full time homemaker for 8 children, working for a few years at a tool factory in Seminole. Dorothy was a member of the Cedar Creek Indian Baptist Church, and she has also attended the All Nations Baptist Church in Seminole.  She was proud of her Seminole heritage and maintained tribal traditions by attending the local Seminole Stomp Dance ceremonies as a participant in the summer time until poor health prevented her from participating. She will always be known for her caring, giving nature to her family. Always “giving” more of herself and giving to the last.  As the Matriarch of her family, she always did the best for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cynthia Narcomey of Bristow, Oklahoma, Terry and Denise Narcomey of Claremore, Oklahoma, Tim and Rhonda Narcomey of Konawa, Oklahoma; four daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Narcomey of Seminole, Oklahoma, Darlene and her husband Adrian Steapahoudle of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, Lenora Narcomey of Holdenville, Oklahoma and Mary Narcomey of Depew, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and a host of other dear family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willie Narcomey who died May 25, 1996; one daughter, Valerie Narcomey; one infant son; two grandchildren, Mark Franklin and Shelly Franklin; one great-grandchild, Holata Wilson; one brother, “Sonny” Bean; two sisters, Mary Lee Bender and Susie Petete also preceded her in death. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday evening May 31, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Following the visitation at the funeral home a wake service will be held at the family home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Internment will follow at Little Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are welcome to a farewell dinner celebrating the life of Dorothy Narcomey following the committal service.  The dinner will be held at the Strother Community Center. Casket bearers will be Dorothy’s grandsons; Eric Narcomey, William Narcomey, Joseph Haney, Phillip Kowena, Tim Franklin, Chissi Narcomey and Micco Cummings.
