Dorothy Lola (Childs) Harden, 88, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident died Thursday, October 07, 2010 in Seminole. She was born September 4, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to Levi and Edna (Litreal) Jones. Mrs. Harden was retired from Seminole Hospital in the housekeeping and laundry departments after more than 20 years of service. She attended the Freewill Baptist Church. Dorothy was very active for many years after retirement. She loved crocheting, fishing, writing poetry and drawing and doing cartwheels till the age of 69. Dorothy was a very sweet, kind and loving person who will be missed by all who knew her. Her first husband and father of her children Ralph Homer Childs who died in 1987 and her second husband Orville Harden who died in 2005 preceded her in death. Her parents, a sister, Sarah Bell Hall and four brothers Milton Jones, Benjamin Jones, Tom Jones, Lester Jones, also preceded her in death, along with two grandchildren, Le Queta Brookshier and Chris Shelton and one great grandchild, Joshua Brown. Two sons and daughters-in-law’s Ralph and Carolyn Childs of Cookson, Oklahoma and Jack and Doris Childs of Seminole, Oklahoma survives her. Two daughters and sons-in-law Freda and Jon Graalfs of Cookson, Oklahoma and Marie and Silas McElhaney of Vian, Oklahoma, also survive her. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four greatgrandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren also survive her. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Lawrence will officiate the service with burial following at Little Cemetery.
