Dorotha Jean “ Dodie”, 77, Seminole resident, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Dorotha was born on June 7, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Zaradah ( Ford) and Fred Calaway, Sr. Dorotha previously lived in the Del City and Midwest City area for over 25 years before moving home to Seminole. Dorotha grew up in the Pleasant Grove area west of Seminole and attended Pleasant Grove Schools and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1956. She worked for over 29 years at Tinker Air Force Base as a classified document & records clerk, after her retirement from Tinker she continued working as a cook at St. Crispens Conference Center east of Seminole, retiring in 2013. Dodie loved her family and they loved her very much. She was known as “ NaNa” to her family and she loved being with them all, but especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, they were the love of her life. She enjoyed traveling on road trips with her brothers and sister. The family remembers her always having a big smile, enjoying large family gatherings, feeding all of them with her good cooking and her love for gardening, feeding hummingbirds, crafts and quilting. This past Sunday, June 7, the family was blessed to be able to celebrate her 77th birthday with her. She was also a member of the Harvey Road Baptist Church in Seminole. She is survived by her husband Bill Madden of Seminole, her daughter Belinda Adams and her husband Gregg of Seminole, two sons, Mike Wyatt of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Robert (Bobby) Wyatt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two brothers Fred Calaway, Jr. and his wife Ida of Midland, Texas, Don Calaway of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and her sister Carolyn Myers and her husband Cotton of Norman, Oklahoma and a special cousin Billie Jo Shelby of Charleston, Arkansas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Brad and Lindsay Adams of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Brandon and Shannon Adams of Maud, Oklahoma and Madison Wyatt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and her great grandchildren Ryder, Reese and Romy Adams of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Harper and Gentri Adams of Maud, Oklahoma, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Zaradah Calaway, two brothers, Alvin T. Calaway and Richard Calaway and a sister-in-law, Billie Calaway. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Russell Vicars officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens east of Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Brad Adams, Brandon Adams, Darren Calaway, Blayne Calaway, Guy Calaway, Danny Calaway. Honorary bearers will be, Ronnie Calaway, Steve Myers, Woody Bart and Randy Bart. The family would like to give a special thanks to Heavenly Hospice of Norman, Oklahoma for all their wonderful care.
