Doris Melton

Doris Mae (Chilcote) Melton, 69 year-old, lifelong Seminole resident passed from this life Monday, November 2, 2009 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.  She was born June 18, 1940 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to parents Thomas James Chilcote and June (Molosh) Chilcote. Doris attended Seminole Schools and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church south of Seminole.  She was a homemaker and loved to fish. Survivors include three sons, Rick Melton of Seminole, Oklahoma, Mike Melton of Magnum, Oklahoma and Terry Melton of Seminole, Oklahoma; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donita Burgess of Seminole, Oklahoma and Teresa and her husband Richie Birdwell of Seminole, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Doris is preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Jim Chilcote. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2009 at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.  Rev. Ron Duvall will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
