Doris Hopper

March 13, 1936 — August 29, 2012

Doris Ann (Skinner) Hopper, 76 year-old, longtime Maud, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at her home in Maud.  She was born March 13, 1936 at Ray City, Oklahoma (near Maud) to parents Calvin Dell Skinner and Faye (Martz) Skinner. Doris graduated from Maud High School in 1954.  Then on November 7, 1959 she married John N. Hopper in Cushing, Oklahoma. Doris was a very active member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.  She taught Sunday school for many years and was very involved with the Children’s Ministry for over 30 years.  Doris served in any capacity that was needed at the Church from serving as the Cook for Falls Creek for over 25 years to gathering clothes for the Clothes Closet for needy families.  She loved to sing in the Church Choir and was instrumental in instructing the Little People Choir. Doris was a homemaker and loved to create beautiful cakes for birthdays and special holidays for other people. Doris leaves to cherish her memory her husband of almost 53 years, John N. Hopper; five sons, David Hailey and his wife Neva of Dover, Oklahoma, Ed Hailey and his wife Teleatha of Santiago, Chile, Danny Hailey of Bayfield, Colorado, James Hopper and his wife Linda of Waco, Texas and Johnny Hopper of Trinidad, Colorado; three daughters, Cindi Hailey of Santa Barbara, California, Julie Howard of Maud, Oklahoma and Fay Storm and her husband David of Maud, Oklahoma; two sisters, Wilma Roberts of Maquoketa, Iowa and Alma Allred of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, George Skinner, Ed Skinner, Calvin Skinner and Jackie Skinner; two sisters, Dorothy Brewer and Alice Jean Skinner. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Pastor Rusty McMullen officiating.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Bryan Spears, Waylon Curtis, Joshua Hailey, Benjamin Hailey, Cade Storm, and James Howard. Honorary Bearers will be: Craig Hopper, Billy Wayne Hailey and Alex Hopper.
