Doris Brewer

December 9, 1928 — November 3, 2014

Doris June Southwick Brewer, 85, a longtime resident of Seminole and Tahlequah, Oklahoma went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 3, 2014 at 12:19pm.   Doris was born on December 9, 1928 in Okfuskee, Oklahoma to Curtis and Florence Southwick.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle Ray Brewer, grandson Andrew Davis and brother Calvin Southwick. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed music, sewing, gardening and large family gatherings at their home on the lake. Doris felt her greatest accomplishment was raising five successful and loving daughters. She was a graduate of Okmulgee High School in 1947.  She and Merle Brewer were married on April 24, 1947 and together they shared 47 wonderful years. They resided in Seminole, Oklahoma for 35 years, then upon retirement moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  Survivors include, five daughters and sons-in-law, Judy McDaniel, Flower Mound, Texas; Gwendolyn and Glen Rowan, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; Jo Ellen and Gary Brown, Burneyville, Oklahoma; Rebecca and Michael Harte, Rockwall, Texas; Julene and Jason Chambers, Seminole, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Southwick of Okmulgee and Charles Southwick of Harrison, AR;  three sisters, Virginia Brown of Okmulgee, OK,  Mary Yeager of Okmulgee, OK and Carolyn Parker of Morris, Ok and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and reception will be held at Swearingen Funeral Home at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 6, 2014.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 2:00P.M. at the Little Chapel at Little Cemetery in Seminole, Ok, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Rowan officiating. Pallbearers are Keith Lynch, Matthew Rowan, Jeremy Rowan, Chris Harte, Cason Johnson, Casey Shanahan, and Kyle Tynan. Honorary Pallbearers are Glen Rowan, Gary Brown, Mike Harte, and Jason Chambers. Doris will lie in state, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 4 and 5 at Swearingen Funeral Home.
