Dora Jay Moreland, 81, longtime Seminole area resident, died on Monday October 23, 2017 in Midwest City, Oklahoma at Alliance Health Midwest. Dora was born at home on February 10, 1936 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Dora grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma. She attended Seminole public schools and graduated from Seminole High School. She lived many years in the New Lima community. Dora was a cook for over 20 years at the New Lima Public Schools in New Lima, Seminole County. She was a member of the Lord’s Community Church in Seminole. Dora loved working crossword puzzles, crocheting, and decorating cakes for people. She enjoyed life and was a happy person. She loved camping with her twin sister on the Blue River in Oklahoma, in her younger years, buying gifts for her grandchildren and being with them. She loved her collection of over 100 stuffed bears that she wanted everyone to see. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Nita Moreland of Wewoka, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, Crystal Shuler of Norman, Oklahoma and Scooter Gates of Wewoka, Oklahoma, seven great grandchildren, Marta, Jose, Gabby, Jackie, Joshua, Jazzy and Jackson, great -great grandchild , Rory, and two special grandsons-in-law, Wayne and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Ora Moreland, brothers John, Sam, Raymond and Jim and sisters Ruthie Mae, Jo and Frances. Private family services will be held later to celebrate her life. Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole is in charge of arrangements.
