Dora “Toostie” May Hill, 57 Gone to be with her mom, dad and brothers was a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, grandmother and dear friend, an outgoing lady who helped and loved many, never asking for anything in return. She was a leader of her family with a kind, gentle nature, soft-spoken smile, hug and laughter who will be greatly missed in the lives of those that she knew and grew to love. Life-long Seminole County resident Dora “Tootsie” May Hill, 57, will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.. Wake services will be held, 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at 515 S. Harvey Road, Seminole and then she will be taken to Cedar Creek Eufaula Church 9:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8. Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Jimpsey Harjo will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Jimmie Carbitcher Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home with traditional speaker Dorsey Nero officiating. Hill died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at her home in Seminole. She was born December 4, 1952 to Jimmie (Ozvna) and Nancy Mae (Deere) Carbitcher; they preceded her in death. On November 12, 1971 she married Dave Roman Hill; he survives her of the home. Hill attended and graduated from Bowlegs High School and she went on to work 15 years at Blue Bell (Wrangler) in sewing as a seamstress, 2 years at Sport Support in Konawa, several years at Justice School and 3 years at McDonald’s before becoming a homemaker and taking care of her husband. “Tootsie” was a member of Cedar Creek Eufaula Church and was baptized by Marcy Cully. She also belonged to Tallahassee Wvkokaye Ceremonial Ground were she grew to shake shells and make camp. She loved to cook and carried on the Indian ways through her camp and everyday life. She reared her children in the Bowlegs/Seminole area in the tradition of the Seminole tribal methods. She lived the ways of the Seminole, intermingling her life with that of the world around her. She was a woman of many talents. She loved to sew and took to the Seminole patchwork by making whatever was asked of her, which included shirts, skirts, and vest. She also liked to cook and would cook whenever asked by many relatives and friends not complaining, but stepping up and making sure everyone and everybody had a good cooked meal to eat. One of her favorite past times was playing with her grandchildren, following them along with her children through their school and extracurricular activities. She enjoyed teaching them the Seminole language and customs of their ancestors. She also loved to watch OU Football and wrestling with the family. Hill will follow the Seminole tribal custom through her funeral services and burial. Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Sally “Tooter” & Jason Brauning of Sasakwa; Natasha “Tasha” Hill and Kristy Hill of Seminole; four sons and daughters-in-law, Michael “Rabbit” Hill and Bea Fry of Henryetta, Jack Hill of Seminole, Isaac and Alana Hill of Ada and Davy “Buffalo” Hill and Sheena Smith of Paden. “Tootsie” left behind 17 grandchildren, Wynter “Mockingbird”, Summer “Mye’ke” and Marion “Chebon” Wind and Christian “Hoktuce” Brauning all of Sasakwa, Alesha Hill of Sasakwa, Gavin and Jared Hill of Seminole, Elijiah “Souix”, Dominic “Winnie”, Hannah “Triple H”, Isaac Jack “Old Man” Hill all of Ada, Koby Matthew Hill of Bowlegs, Daven “Chunda”, Darrin “Chubby” all of Seminole. Diallon Hill, Riley “Abella”, Chloe “Monkey” Hill both of Paden, JonJon “Possum” Arredondo, of Seminole. Other survivors include three brothers; Freeland “Rusty” Carbitcher of Stroud, Jimpsey “Boggey” Carbitcher of Wetumka and Cooky “Toby” Carbitcher of Bowlegs. Five sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat Larney of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Betty Jean “Tina” and Gene Wahweah of El Reno, Marian “Tolley” and Roger Butler of Bowlegs, Serena “DoDo” and Dewayne Scott of Seminole and Nettie “B-girl” and David W. Haney, Sr. of Seminole. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Lillie Yargee of Checotah, brothers-in-law; Jacob Hill of Henryetta, Josie Hill of Sulpher and Billy Hill of Dustin; a host of nieces, nephews, as well as many, many friends. Those who precede Hill in death are her grandparents, parents, Jimmie (Ozvna) Carbitcher, November 8, 1999 and Nancy Mae (Deere) Carbitcher, March 29, 2003; two brothers, Monroe Carbitcher, October 31, 1964 and Younger “Sonny” Carbitcher, December 9, 2001; mother-in-law, Mary Hill and brother-in-law Benji Hill and father-in-law Jack Isaac Hill. Pallbearers include Scotty Harjo, Brandon Harjo, Curtis Harjo, William “Chuck” Proctor, Wendall Rescke and Rueben Proctor. Honorary Pallbearers include David Proctor, Gene Wahweah, Alex Alvarez, Jason “Goat” Harley, Jason Brauning, Richard “LuLu” Williamson.
