Seminole resident Donald Edward Tiger passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his home, at the age of 82.
Donald, the son of Edmond and Lucille (McGirt) Tiger, was born October 3, 1940, in Pawnee Oklahoma. As a child Donald and his family moved to Holliday Texas, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. Donald proudly served his country for 18 years in the US Navy. On July 7, 1962, Donald married Joann Beverly Price, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joann passed away on July 4, 2010, 3 days short of their 48th wedding anniversary. After leaving the Navy Donald attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee where he studied culinary arts. Donald was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was always a fan of sports; he loved watching many different sports and grew to love watching softball. Donald was a friend of nature and would frequently go for walks in the woods alone or with his dogs. He enjoyed westerns, whether that meant reading Louis L’Amour books or watch a John Wayne movie. But he loved nothing more that drinking coffee and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; his mother, Lucy McGirt-Tiger; his father, Edmond Tiger; brothers, Roland Tiger and Marland Tiger; sisters, Gloria Jean Davis, Eva Von Towery, Nema Alderman, twins Loretta and Rosetta Tiger, and an infant sister ; and a great-grandson, Edward “Little Eddie” Powell.
Donald is survived by his son, Donald “Buddy” Tiger; daughters, Beckie Powell and Rachel Leigh Dinwiddie; brothers, Pembrook Tiger and Randall Tiger; sisters, Opal Cloud and Wanda Barber; five grandchildren, Joshua Dinwiddie, Jessica Dinwiddie, Timothy Lee Ryan Powell, Sara Powell, and Korrie Powell; great grandchildren, Evelyn Dinwiddie, James Ponder, Paris Powell, Rylee Powell, Jozie Porter, William Porter, Treyton Powell, Kanen Powell, Braydon Powell, Phoenyx Powell, Timmy Powell, and Cash Powell.
Casket bearers will be Timothy Powell, Treyton Powell, Braydon Powell, Calvin Dinwiddie, Joshua Dinwiddie, Harlan Edgell, and Timmy Joe Powell. Honorary casket bearers will be Cash Powell, Kanen Powell, William Porter and James Nokose Ponder.
A wake service will be Friday, February 17, 2023 at 6:00 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.
Services will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with Eric Thlocco and Kevin Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Sally Marcy Tiger Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
