Donald Holmes “Don “ Northcott 78, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Don was born April 3, 1934 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma to Bob and Margaret Northcott. Don grew up in Bowlegs and attended and graduated from Bowlegs High School. Don served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from truck driving, but during his life was a mechanic, ranch hand and worked in construction. Don was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion, and North American Hunting Club, his passion was guns and knives. Don loved fishing, and was known as one of the best catfish noodlers around. Don also loved horses and anything that went fast. Don loved reading westerns of all kinds and watching westerns on television. He completely enjoyed working with his sons on vehicles and talking about trucks. He even taught his daughter to be able to maintain her own vehicle. This was shared with his children from a very young age and continued as they became adults. He also taught his children to be very independent and stand strong in their beliefs. He had a deep love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law; Randy and Kim Northcott of Edmond, Oklahoma and Tony and Carolyn Northcott of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; his daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Sheldon Hurst of Meeker, Oklahoma; two brothers Richard Northcott of Seminole, Oklahoma and Bob Northcott of Bowlegs, Oklahoma; three sisters Sybil Turner of Mead, Oklahoma, Judy Oates and Janie Owens both of Laport, Texas. He is survived by the mother of his children, Jane Northcott of Seminole, Oklahoma, his grandchildren Carmencia Buoy, Wayland Northcott, , Tabitha Frizzell, Misha Hennigh, Tiffany Fowler, Cally Ward, Alex Northcott, Kenzie Northcott,Hailey Northcott, his great-grandchildren, Hailey Northcott, Elijah Smith, Madison Buoy, Macy Buoy, Serenity Northcott, Stevie Buoy, Cooper Ward, Cheyanne Ward all survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Ed Northcott and Tommy Northcott and sister Suzanne Northcott. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 A.M., Saturday December 22, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Little Cemetery. The family will recieve friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
