Donald Clayton "Don" McKee , age 84 and a resident of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, passed away at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Oklahoma on June 4, 2023.
Cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma, and a memorial graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Dora Cemetery. His nephew, James Williams will offciate, and a dinner will follow at his daughter, Danita and Monty Payne's home.
Don was born December 1, 1938 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Jessie Lewis McKee and Rubel “Grace” (Bryant) McKee. He started breaking and training horses as a young boy. His love for horses continued throughout is life. Rodeoing was one of his greatest joys. As a young man, he started working in the oilfield. He did everything from rough-necking to part owner in a drilling rig. He was known as being one of the best in the business. Don married Sondra Rae Williams June 11, 1966 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. No one loved and cared about people more than Don. He never met a stranger, and he would give anything he had to make someone happy. As one of his nephews said, “He lived a full life. He had a lot of passion for the things he did and was always willing to help.”
He is survived by two daughters, Danita Payne and husband, Monty of Konawa, and Debbie Isaacs and husband, Danny also of Konawa; one sister, Glenda Rachwal and husband, Peter of Argyle, Texas; five grandchildren, Scotty Isaacs, T and Misty Isaacs, Adam Gordon, Shayla Gordon, and Shanda and Zeke Melton; fifteen great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sondra Rae McKee; one son, Chris McKee; one brother, Jimmy McKee; and four sisters, Judy Griggs, Norma Penuel, Grace Lankford, and Linda Renfro.
