Donald R. Cooper

Donald R. “Don” Cooper, Sr., age 82, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away October 19, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 7, 1937 in Archer City, Texas to parents Bert Albert Cooper and Louise (Lowack) Cooper. He married Margaret Johnston Douthit on December 7, 1979 in Verden, Oklahoma. Don was an entrepreneur, a buyer and seller of oilfield bits, and oilfield mechanic, a roofer and builder and a “jack of all trades”.  He was a businessman and was well known and owned a used appliance store in Seminole. He had many hobbies, enjoyed playing the guitar and liked to watch the Dallas Cowboys on television. Don was a people person and salesman. Don is survived by his wife Margaret of the home, son; Donald R. “Donnie” Cooper, Jr. and his wife Amy of Laverne, Oklahoma, daughter; Beckie Green of Gage, Oklahoma and stepson; Terry Douthit and his wife Linda of Tuttle, Oklahoma, brother; Jerry Wayne Cooper and his wife Donna of Wichita Falls, Texas, sisters-in-law; Liz Cooper of Texas, Norma Cooper of Utah and Anita Rumley of Chickasha, Oklahoma, brother-in-law; Freddie Dean Johnston of Seminole, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Traci Payne and her wife Lori of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Treshieva Haulcomb of Edmond, Oklahoma, Colton Green and his wife Mickey of Goldendale, Washington, Logan Green and his wife Brittany of Gage, Oklahoma, Catrina Hosino and husband Louis of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jessika Harris and her husband Jesse of Seminole, Oklahoma, Houston Green and his wife Sarah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rachel Gonzales and her husband Justin of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Misti Davis and her husband Justin of Norman, Oklahoma, nineteen great-grandchildren, special friends; Marcy and Dewey Cothern and Billy Clinkenbeard and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Louise Cooper, brothers; Clyde Cooper, Marvin Cooper and Ed Cooper, sister; Patsy Clark and her husband Jerry and one nephew; Terry Wilton Clark. Funeral services for Don will be at 10:30 A.M. October 23, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Randy and Lorie Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Logan Green, Houston Green, Austyn Payne, Freddie Dean Johnston, Dewey Cothern and Billy Clinkenbeard.
