Don Sachse

Seminole resident, Don Sachse, passed away in Oklahoma City on January 22, 2025.

He and his identical twin brother, Ronald Sachse, were born on Gary Air force Base near Austin, Texas on November 1, 1954, to Claude and Opal Sachse. Don moved as a young boy with his family to Seminole in the early 1960’s. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1973. He served 6 years in the Oklahoma National Guard. Don enjoyed working hard and spent more than 30 years working first at Hayes Axle in Seminole and then Dexter Axle in Shawnee until he had to retire due to his health. An avid sports fan, he had an amazing memory for sports statistics and loved to discuss local, NFL or OU teams, especially OU women’s basketball and softball. Watching, following, and talking sports were his favorite hobbies. 

Don is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Stephen Barrett of Georgetown, TX; niece, Carrie Shephard and David Shephard of Manvel, TX; niece, Erin Barrett and Brian Christian of Round Rock, TX; and nephew, David Barrett and Deena Walker of Portland, OR. He also has 7 grandnieces/grandnephews: Adam, Valerie, Regan, Robert, Ivan, Evan, Marcus, and a recently born greatnephew, Ivan Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Gillit Sachse, father, Claude Sachse, and brother, Ronald Sachse. Don loved his family, friends, and his church family. 

He will be greatly missed. Don was an active member of the Church of Christ at Little where funeral services are scheduled on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole adjacent to the church.
