Longtime Seminole resident Don Raney passed away on Friday, September 21, 2007 in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 86. rnrnHe was born on June 13, 1921 in Union, Arkansas to Edgar M. and Mattie (Cochran) Raney.rnrnHe married Jewell (Bradley) Raney on April 5, 1948 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 31, 1942 and he served in the 390th Air Service Squad and was discharged on December 11, 1945. rnrnHe and his family moved to Seminole in 1951 from Pryor, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist in Seminole, where he was a deacon for many years. He was a Sunday School Teacher and a director of Senior Adult Sunday School Department for twenty-seven years. He worked for Atlantic Richfield Oil Company for thirty-three years retiring in 1984.rnrnHe is survived by his wife Jewell Raney of the home, son and daughter-in-law; David and Sidney Raney of Los Angeles, California, granddaughter, Amy Moran of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one grandson, Nathaniel Moran and wife Dana of Independence, Kentucky, one sister and brother-in-law, Ima and Darwin Kirkman of Mound Ridge, Kansas.rnrnHis parents, E.M. and Mattie Raney, one daughter, Sandy Raney Easter, three brothers: Maurice, Harold and Randall Raney, and one sister, Myrtle Homsey, precede him in death.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:30am, Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Clark officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma.rnrnCasket Bearers will be: Earl Peale, Larry McMains, Terry Howard, Herman Richie, Dr. Gus Shi, Patrick GarbuttrnHonarary Bearers will be all the deacons of the First Baptist Church in SeminolernrnIn lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in memory of Don for future growth of the church. rnrn Funeral Information: September 24, 2007, 10:30 AM
