Don Jack Phillips, longtime Seminole county resident, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014; he was 86 years old. Don was born on November 8, 1927 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Noah Jefferson and Una (Woods) Phillips. He worked on the family’s farm until he graduated from Varnum High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return from service of his country, Don attended Oklahoma State A&M. He married Emma Juanita (Welch) on August 14, 1948 in Harrah, Oklahoma and together they made their home in the Seminole, Oklahoma area. Don worked at Phillips Implement, D&B Automotive and Kerr McGee. He retired as a superintendent for Kerr McGee in 1992. Throughout his adult life he also did free lance mechanic work. After retirement he operated his own cattle ranch in the Seminole area. Don leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Juanita of the home; two daughters, Linda and her husband Larry Crumbliss of Drumright, Oklahoma and Catherine McCartney of Yukon, Oklahoma; two sons, Terry Don Phillips and his wife Betty of Carney, Oklahoma and John Case Phillips and his wife Sibbya of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, Nelleta Molloy of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Isla Mae Phillips of Seminole, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Erika Hardin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Terry Case Phillips of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, Greg Crumbliss of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brian Crumbliss of Edmond, Oklahoma, Daniel Phillips of Houston, Texas, Hallie McCartney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Emma McCartney of Norman, Oklahoma and Jina Phillips-Farar of Cushing, Oklahoma; eleven great grandchildren, Lachan Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Samuel Farar, Trace Farar, Chance Crumbliss, Sarai Crumbliss, Una Phillips, Sara Phillips, Abby Phillips, Lilly Phillips and Auna Phillips; one great-great grandchild, Eziqual Solano; many nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents, Noah J. and Una Phillips; three brothers, Roy Phillips, Ewell Phillips, and N.J. Jr. Phillips and one baby sister, Louisa Phillips. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 7th, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. J.C. Simpson will officiate the service.
