Don LanCaster

Don LanCaster, 72 year-old resident of Allen, Oklahoma died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Ada, Oklahoma. Don was a former longtime Seminole resident who was born July 3, 1939 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma to E.L. and Marie (Moutaw) LanCaster. While Don had many jobs in his life, ranging from driving a truck to being a mechanic he spent most of his adult life in the oilfields as one of the first pioneers of drill bit sales. Don attended Varnum Schools and later served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He loved to work and loved to supervise other people working. He loved his family and was very involved with his grandchildren. He played triple AAA baseball in the Brooklyn Dodger’s Baseball organization in Spokane, Washington where he played 2nd base.  His family remembers him loving all sports and he was considered a walking sports almanac by all who knew him. He loved to coon hunt and even raised his own champion coon hunting dogs. He was a member of the National Coon Hunters Association and co-founder of the New Rivers Coon Hunting Association. Don was married to Cynthia Kay (Horton) LanCaster in 1988 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2011. He is survived by three sons; Barry “Cowboy” LanCaster of the home in Allen, Oklahoma, Brian LanCaster and Brad LanCaster both of Sulphur, Oklahoma; three daughters Roni Hardoin of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Donita Barnes and her husband Josh of Ada, Oklahoma, Helen McKay and her husband John of Tupelo, Oklahoma and one Sister Lavonne Ware of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephen, Micah, Jeremy, Micki, Briana, Shane, Kurtis, Dillon, Tyler, Wesley, Katelyn, Kelsey, Emilee, Alanah, Bradley and seven great grandchild. His parents, his wife and a brother LeRoy LanCaster and daughter Micki Lynn Sweeten preceded him in death. Funeral services are planned for Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole. His son Barry “Cowboy” LanCaster and nephew Colt Kreeger will officiate at the service along with other family members. Casket bearers will be Barry “Cowboy” LanCaster, Brian LanCaster, Brad LanCaster, Shane Sorrels, Kurtis Jacobs and Dillon LanCaster. Honorary bearers will be Mike Hardoin, Josh Barnes, John McKay, Tyler Pierce, Wesley LanCaster, Bradley LanCaster, Wayne Pollet and Terry Richardson.
