Dollie V. Smith

Dollie Verry (Gosnell) Smith, 90 year-old former Seminole, and Tecumseh resident passed from this life on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Colonial Estates Care Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Dollie was born December 14, 1924 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to parents Maggie Evelyn (McPherson) Gosnell and Johnny Franklin Gosnell. Dollie was a homemaker and had worked several different jobs through the years.  She also worked as a bookkeeper for Mardell’s Retail Store until her retirement.  She loved to do anything that involved working in her yard. She loved flowers and gardening in general.  Dollie was also very giving of herself. She loved working and being a caregiver to others.  She was also an avid reader. Dollie was of the Baptist faith and was proud to pass her faith in God, on to her children and grandchildren. Dollie leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Billie Dwayne Townsend and his wife Virginia Lee Townsend of Cumberland, Maryland, Mike Townsend and his wife Sharon (Briery) Townsend of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Patricia Beall of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Dollie is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles Allen Townsend; 6 sisters; 1 brother; and 4 half brothers and sisters. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow at Vista Cemetery near Konawa, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015.
