Dennis Auld

Dennis Keith Auld, age 53 and long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26th, at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.  Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.  Rev. Steve Lowrance and Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate.  Pallbearers are Mike Auld, Steve Auld, Dale Auld, Mark Auld, Lonnie Brooks, and Frank Serrano. Dennis was born on December 23, 1955, in Newcastle, Wyoming, to George and Joyce (Eaton) Auld.  Dennis married Julie Wingo on April 3, 1999, in Hennepin, Oklahoma.  He was a Drug and Alcohol Counselor who also provided clinical expertise to Drug and Alcohol Centers in Australia, Scotland, and Amsterdam.  Dennis was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Konawa and a member of the Konawa School Board.  He was also a COFMC board member.  Dennis was one of the first white football players for Langston University who attended on a full scholarship. While he was the Director of Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counselor’s Association, he played a key role in the passage of law to regulate drug and alcohol treatment in Oklahoma.  During the last few months, Dennis established a small business in Konawa in order to be close to his home and community and for his children’s activities.  His proudest accomplishment was his children.  John III, Verse 4 states, “I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk in Truth.”  Dennis leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Julie Auld, son, Dennis Connor Auld and daughter, Madison Auld (all of the home); one daughter, Kristie Wynn and husband, Bradley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four brothers, Mike Auld of Prague, Oklahoma, Steve Auld of Yukon, Oklahoma, Dale Auld and wife, Roxie of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Mark Auld of Asher, Oklahoma; one grandchild, Cameron Brooks; one step-brother, Gerald Jolley of Cushing, Oklahoma; and three step-sisters, Retta Brawdy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Glenda Martin of Enid, Oklahoma, and Debbie Walker of Konawa, Oklahoma.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Joyce Auld.
