Dayne L. Chastain, 79 year-old, lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home. He was born June 5, 1929 in Seminole County to parents Sebastian Lamar Chastain and Leslie O. (Holland) Chastain.rnrnMr. Chastain has lived in Seminole County all of his life except for 10 months that he lived in San Jose, California. On June 19, 1947 Chastain entered into active service with the United States Navy where he served on the USS H.A. Bass. During his service he was awarded the World War II Victory Metal. He later married Esther Joy Remer on August 6, 1955 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Chastain was a self-employed building contractor, he built and operated his own precious metals refinery, Chastain and Associates, and he also served as a consultant for oil companies. He wrote a book about his adventures as a treasure hunter titled "Follow The Signs" which was published by Tiwinkie Publishing Company.rnrnChastain was a member of Highway Baptist Church where he led Bible Study for the Men?s Class. Although Dayne loved his God, Church and family he was ready for his Heavenly Home, where there would be no more pain.rnrnMr. Chastain leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, just three months shy of their 54th Wedding Anniversary, Esther Joy Chastain of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delight and Rick Sebourn of Seminole, Oklahoma and Gay and Mark Geer of Lawton, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Chris Geer and his wife Laura, Kirk Geer and his wife Katrina, Nick Sebourn, Brandi and her husband Josh Liles, Dayna and her fianc? Matt Reust; two nephews, J.C. Chastain, and Kelly Chastain and his wife Lynn; and a host of other dear family and friends.rnrnMr. Chastain is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jett Chastain and Justin Chastain; and by two sisters, Velda Sweet and Atha Thompson.rnrnA Celebration of Mr. Chastain?s life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Highway Baptist Church located 9 miles north of Seminole on Hwy 99.rnPastor Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.rnrnThe family has designated Faith Hospice as appropriate for memorial donations.
