David Scott Cathey

January 6, 1964 — May 26, 2022

Scott Cathey was born in Seminole on January 6th, 1964 to David and Patsy (Brown) Cathey. He spent most of his life right here in Seminole County. Scott was a hard worker from a young age. He spent many years working the oilfield for his grandfather, Joe Tolbert, within the family business. His grandmother, Shirley Tolbert, was also near and dear to his heart. Scott graduated in 1982 from Bowlegs High School. He met and fell in love with Kelli (Myers) Cathey, in 1987. In the 35 years they spent together, they raised six daughters and welcomed nineteen grandchildren. Scott spent most of his working years as a tower hand within the communications industry. He traveled all over the country climbing towers and bringing stories and gifts to his children at home. He eventually established his own business, United Tower Service.

Scott was often found in his shop where he dreamed up and brought to life all manner of ideas. Whether he was working on cars, building beautifully hand crafted furniture, or welding, he always had music playing loud in the background. He dreamed for many years of owning his own motorcycle - a Harley Davidson to be specific. In 2016, that dream came true. He rode his bike whenever he could. When he wasn't riding, he was tinkering with it. If you asked him what his favorite motorcycle was, he would point proudly to the one he poured so much time into and tell you, "This one right here, of course."

Scott was passionate, proud and fiercely protective of those he loved until the day of his passing on May 26th, 2022. He will forever be loved, remembered, and deeply missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Kelli Cathey, of Seminole, Oklahoma, and six daughters, Julia Dunagan and husband, Josh, of Konowa, Oklahoma, Heather Winlock and husband, Christopher, of Ormond Beach, Florida, Amy Ingram and husband, Christopher, of Penn Valley, California, Molli Miller and husband, Doug, Katie Cathey, Baylee Hernandez and husband, Johnathan, all of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by three sisters, Lisa Cathey and partner, Glenn Robinson, Shauna Cochran and husband, Brian, Jovonna Wood and husband, Tim, three brothers, Cole Cathey, Tray Walker, and Chris Walker, as well as his step mother, CJ Cathey.

Scott was preceded in death by his son, Baby David Dene Cathey, his maternal grandparents, Jewell and Jasper Brown, his mother, Patsy Carter (Brown), of Seminole, Oklahoma, his paternal grandparents, Joe and Shirley Tolbert, and his father, David Cathey, of Bowlegs, Oklahoma.
