David Dwayne McCown, age 55 and a resident of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away from this life Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Wewoka Health Care. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Highway Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Carl Whitfield and Rev. Randy McCown will officiate, and burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers are Billy Lee, Frank Gore, Russell Lay, Henry Wells, Jr., Kevin Anderson, and Alex Anderson. Honorary bearers are Doc Duvall, Marvin Lay, and Gene McGowen. David was born March 22, 1962 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Philip K. McCown and Helen Earlene (Ford) McCown. David spent his entire life living in Seminole. He graduated from Varnum High School and worked as an Apprentice for McCown Refrigeration. He had also worked for Ramada Inn. David was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, and he loved OU football and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed the farm life-style where he could take care of the horses and cattle until he became ill and was no longer able to care for them. After a long battle with illness, David went to be with the Lord and to be with many of his loved ones whom have preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Helen McCown of the home; one brother, Mark McCown of Seminole; one sister, Cindy Phillips and husband, Ronnie of Seminole; three nieces, Shanna Wells and husband, Henry, Brenna Anderson and husband, Kevin, and Jesse Sims; and one nephew, Wes Phillips; and great niece and nephews, Lilly Phillips, Austin Phillips, Alex Anderson, Lance Anderson, Quentin Anderson and Bryce Hair.
