David M. Kelley, longtime Seminole resident left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Copell, Texas. David was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 9, 1924 to John and Minta (Mills) Kelley. David and his family moved to Seminole where David went to school and completed the 8th grade. David joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served his country during World War II and the Korean War. David retired from the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 1, after 20 years of faithful service. After the service David went to work for the civil service, working in the dental labs department at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado for 17 years before retiring and moving back to Seminole, Oklahoma in 1980. David was also a member of the Fleet Reserves Association. David married the love of his life Dana Poplin; they were married for 60 years, before Dana went to be with the lord. David and Dana had 10 children. David is survived by; Patrick Kelley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David Kelley Jr., of Carrollton, Texas, John Kelley of Amarillo, Texas, Mary Thompson of Plano, Texas, Jim Kelley of Byers, Colorado, Cheryl Wise of Carrollton, Texas, Richard Kelley of Lewisville, Texas and Joyce Patterson of Carrollton, Texas. Two daughters Karen East and Carol Nguyen preceded him in death. Twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survived David. David was survived by three sisters; Irene Lockhart of Oklahoma, Alice Tregea of California and Lela Mae Bennett of Arizona. David was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. George Davis, John Kelley, Albert Kelley, Patrick Kelley, Paul Kelley. His family and friends will remember David as the picture of the perfect family man. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. U.S. Naval honors will follow at the burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Stoeber, Johnathon Bunch, Darrel Patterson Jr., Kevyn Kelley, Daniel Kelley and James Thompson.
