Melvin David Hargis, 54, lifelong Seminole resident, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Seminole, Oklahoma. David was born June 28, 1961 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Melvin Eugene and Nancy Etta (Littlejohn) Hargis. David attended Seminole Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in the class of 1979. He attended and graduated from Seminole State College and while at SSc he worked in the Assist Lab as a tutor. He completed his education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was currently employed with Clour Engineering in Norman, Oklahoma, until his death. He worked with his grandfather Clarence Hargis and father Melvin Hargis in the Hargis Cabinet Shop on West Strothers for many years. He enjoyed meetings of the Tool collectors club and going to tool shows looking for deals on antique tools, which he loved to collect. He was a member of the Midwest Tool Collectors Association. He also loved computers and anything to do with them. David was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Although David was a very private person, he always came through for his family in their time of need, He was dearly loved and we will all miss him deeply. David is survived by his sisters Nancy Jeanette Tiger of Seminole, Oklahoma and Martha Ellen Howard and her husband Kirk of Allen, Texas, his nieces and nephews Nancy Ellen Maye and Kursten Devoe Maye both of Seminole, Oklahoma and Leah Nicole Howard and Adam Howard both of Allen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memorial services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Bill Barnett of the Indian Nations Baptist Church in Seminole, will officiate at the service. Swearingen Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
