David Leon Cross was born on December 23, 1952 in San Jose, California to Leon and Bernice Cross. He returned to Bowlegs with his Mom and Dad when he was 6 weeks old. He spent the rest of his life in the area of Seminole and Shawnee. He started school at Bowlegs and graduated there and went on to Vo-Tech. He was a self-employed carpenter and was very devoted to his work. He worked a lot of years in the oil field early on in life. He loved archery and always placed first at the CPN Pow Wow every year. He loved working on guns and did work for others on their guns and archery equipment. He tried to help anyone who needed his help. He was a loving and caring son and loving brother to his sisters. He enjoyed spending weekends with his sister Dawn and her family. He loved his niece and nephews. He came to live with his parents to help in 2007. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jade Cross, grandparents, Lewis and Maggie Cross, Bill and Dora Sullinger. He is survived by his parents Leon and Bernice Cross, one son and daughter-in-law: Jason and Jenny Cross, sister and brother-in-law: Dawn and Dale Smith of Seminole, soster: Sharon Tate of Shawnee, a special niece, Devon Smith and two nephews Douglas and David Smith of Seminole. He is also survived by one grandson, Dylan Cross of Seminole and a host of loving friends and family. David passed away on January 10, 2010 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma at the age of 57. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 North Milt Phillips Avenue, Seminole, Oklahoma 74868. Pallbearers will be: Gary Mainord, Steve Clayborn, Gayland Lindemann, Bobby Northcott, Steve Robertson, Jeff Cavett, Allen Harvey, and Stacey Northcott. Honorary Bearers will be: Rick Hudson, Curtis Brumley, Ray Troglin, Woody West, Gene Houck, Nash Harjo, Charles Short, Bill Brown and Paul Brown.
