David Cathey

David Truman Cathey, 72, longtime Bowlegs, Oklahoma resident, died Friday, August 4, 2017 in Seminole, Oklahoma. David was born on May 1, 1945 to Elmer and Shirley Ann (Taber) Cathey. David lived in Bowlegs, Oklahoma for most all of his life and was raised by Joe Tolbert and Shirley Tolbert. David was an Oil Rig Consultant for Summa Engineering, Inc. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also had worked for United Truck Service in Seminole, Oklahoma and was a cross country truck driver for several years. While driving trucks his CB Handle was “Sidewinder”. David loved getting together with his family, fishing tournaments with his grandkids at Sportsman Lake and watching grandkids play sports. He married Carolyn June (Walker) Cathey of November 1, 1974 in Ada, Oklahoma. David is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Cathey of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, four sons; Scott Cathey and his wife Kelli of Seminole, Oklahoma, Trace Walker of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, Chris Stormwalker of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Cole Cathey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three daughters; Jovonna “Jodi” Wood and her husband Tim of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Shauna Cochran and her husband Brian of Snow Flake, Arizona, Lisa Cathey and her husband Glenn Robinson of Holdenville, Oklahoma, one brother Larry Cathey and his wife Mary Cathey of Ozark, Missouri and one sister Judy Cathey Kendrick and her husband Sonny of Okemah, Oklahoma, twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Shirley Tolbert one brother, Gene Cathey, sister, Zaida Jackson, and his biological father, Elmer Cathey. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers are: Chris Stormwalker, Trace Walker, Brian Cochran, Tim Wood, Auston Miles and Jesey Miles. Honorary casket bearers are Michael Story, Tommy Lehman, Cole Cathey, Scott Cathey, R. B.
