David Earl Bonebrake, 72 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 30, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Earl Bonebrake and Norfleet “Fleety” (Ayers) Bonebrake. David graduated from Seminole High School in 1964 and went on to continue his education at Seminole State College. In January 1969, David earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma with a Major in History and a Minor in Speech. David was drafted in 1969 into the United States Army, doing his basic training and infantry training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served as head writer and chief of the 1st Armored Division’s Awards and Decoration Section. He obtained an early release in January, 1971 to attend East Central University’s graduate program. While serving in the United States Army he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rating (Pistol), Marksman Expert Rating (Rifle M-16) and Expert Rating (Rifle M-14) awards. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, David returned to East Central University to earn his Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance in 1972. David was a First Aid Instructor certified by the American Red Cross. A qualified Hunter Safety Instructor certified by the National Rifle Association and a member of the Oklahoma Personnel, Guidance and Counseling Association. He was a proud long time member of the NRA and the Whittington Center. David loved to write articles and he was a Civil War buff. David retired from Workforce Oklahoma, where he was the Senior Interviewer. On March 13, 1987 he married Virginia (James) Bonebrake in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife Virginia (James) Bonebrake of Norman, Oklahoma, one step-daughter Christi Coleman of Norman, Oklahoma, one brother Steve Bonebrake and his wife Gail of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. David is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Norfleet “Fleety” Bonebrake. Cremation Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. No funeral services are scheduled.
