Davene Shipman

Davene “Dee Dee” Carruth Shipman passed from this life Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 74. She is a former resident of Wildflower Retirement Center and employee of PJ’s Corner and member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Elsie Carruth; husband, Oliver Shipman; and one son, David Shipman, all of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is survived by one son, Doug Shipman; two grandchildren, Conner and Korey Shipman of Seminole, Oklahoma; two brothers Phil Carruth of Russellville, Arkansas and Craig Carruth of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Diane Knox of Oakton, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Casket Bearers will be Phil Carruth, Sr., Phillip Carruth Jr., Jim Carruth, Conner Shipman, Lana Cornwell and Susan Knox. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
