Celebration of Life “For I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:6-7 Daphne Eileen Metoyer, a beautiful baby girl, was born May 19, 1958 in Bakersfield, California. The beautiful Daphne was one of six children. Daphne was baptized at an early age at the Church of Christ in Los Angeles, California, and then later she was re-baptized at the First Apostolic Church in Inglewood, California. Upon moving to Wewoka, Oklahoma, she joined and attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reginal V. Woods, Sr. Daphne attended and graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, California. Daphne also attended and graduated from Marcello’s School of Cosmetology in Los Angeles, California (That’s why her hair always looked immaculate), ultimately, Daphne found her passion in nursing. Anyone that knew her knew that she loved assisting others. She was employed in the field of nursing for over 25 years. Prior to her illness she was employed as a diligent Certified medication Aide (CME) at Elmwood Nursing Home in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Daphne was blessed with one son, Terron king, who was her pride and joy. Daphne was also a mother figure , and partly raised her nephews, Gary & Quante Metoyer, whom she loved and treated as her very own sons. Daphne was very compassionate, giving and loving person. She had a wonderful personality and sense of humor and was so full of life. She enjoyed her quiet time and loved watching movies. She was an avid fan of “The Lifetime Movie Network Channel.” She would watch good movies back to back, even if she had seen them before. She loved being a caregiver for her mother as they were very close. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, Tyler and Teriya, whom she was so very proud of . Daphne was also a very courageous, proud and humble lady. She was determined not to give into her illness and she fought a good fight to the very end. Her spirits were very high and she gave strength to her family and friends by seeing how courageous she was. Daphne was a very spiritual person. She placed her life in God’s hands. Daphne stated “I’m not going to give up, I’m not going to be doing all that crying and stuff an I am not going to complain because I know a man who is a healer and if it is His will, I will be healed and if not, because if God decides to call me home then I’m ready to go.” She was a true Christian , and definitely a child of God. Daphne succumbed to her illness and passed through to Glory on Monday, April 16, 2012. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Daphne was preceded in death by her father, James Perry, Sr. Daphne leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, her loving mother, Doris Robbie Perry , one son Terron and wife Sophia King, two grandchildren, Tyler, and Teriya King of Wewoka, Oklahoma, five brothers; Gary Metoyer of Corcoran, Ca., James (Sally) Perry, Bryan (Toie) Perry, Rodney (Ann) Perry of Wewoka, Ok.; Larry (Gloria) Perry of Vallejo, CA., one sister, Catania (Terrill) Jones of Los Angeles, Ca., ten nieces and seven nephews, a host of great-nieces and nephews and other loving cousins, family and friends.
