Seminole resident, Danny McGehee, died Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Shawnee.
Danny, the son of Tommy and Colleen (Rowe) McGehee, was born August 20, 1954 in Borger, Texas. Danny’s family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school with the Shawnee High School class of 1972. Following graduation Danny attended Eastern State College in Wilburton, where he received his associate’s degree in mechanical engineering. On November 17, 2006, he married Marion Pence in Ft Smith. He was a drafting engineer for Trinity Rail for some time designing railroad cars, he worked for Curry Hardin in Seminole, Danny also spent time as a substitute teacher at Varnum Schools. Danny enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids, he was a fixture at their softball games. He was also a Boy Scout troop leader for troop 47. His favorite thing was spoiling his wife; he and Marion would frequently hop in their car and leave on a road trip with no known destination, they just drove to wherever the road took them.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Danny is survived by his wife; his daughters and son-in-law, Jayme and Billy Johnson of Seminole and Kari Sanders of Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Mary Sanders of Choctaw, and Jason and Alex Sanders of Norman; 10 grandchildren, Cheyenne Johnson and Zack Taylor, Jake Johnson, Lesa Sanders, Serena Sanders, Austin Sanders, Brooklyn Sanders, Angelica Sanders, Landry Sanders, Alexis Hernandez and Aryssa Hernandez; 3 great grandchildren, Danny Johnson, Clinton Johnson, and Larry Taylor; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Claudia McGehee; “sister” Polly Dewies; and many other family and friends.
The family has respectfully requested that people attending the funeral wear masks.
Danny will be available for viewing, beginning Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
Services will be Monday, September 27, at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, with Merrill Pence officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
