Daniel Lee Dye, age 59 and resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Integris Medical Center in Seminole, Oklahoma. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, east of Konawa. Rev. Ed Bray, Pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Konawa, will officiate, and Rev. Bob Hatcher will assist. Pallbearers are Ronnie Lemmings, Jerome Snider, Gene Walker, Denver Merrell, Tom Brumley, and Earl Hacker. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Phillips, and Sam Flippo. Visitation is 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Daniel was born on April 16, 1950, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to Elmer and Reba (Edwards) Dye. He married Lana Mason on December 23, 1971, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Daniel was a minister and was also a member of the Cross Timbers Church in Konawa. He had served as Pastor of Glendale Freewill Baptist Church in Midwest City for four years. Daniel also was the pastor of Camp Ground Free Will Baptist Church west of Ada, and he also was the pastor of Welty Freewill Baptist. Daniel is survived by his wife, Lana Dye of the home; two sons, Michael Dye and Kevin Dye also of the home; two brothers, Elmer “Sonny” Dye and wife, Peggy of Harrah, Oklahoma, and Ricky Dye and wife, Mary of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Rita Dallas of Midwest City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Reba Dye; one sister, Erma Cozens; and one brother-in-law, Oliver Dallas.
