Daniel Dillon

November 6, 1958 — February 4, 2014

Daniel Shearer Dillon, known as “Radio Dan” and Dan-O”, age 55 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 due to an auto accident in icy conditions on Little River Bridge on Hwy 99 near Bowlegs, Oklahoma on his way to work. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Choctaw Church of the Nazarene in Choctaw, Oklahoma.  Terry Rowland will officiate.  A memorial register book is available for signing at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Danny was born on November 6, 1958 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Daniel Dillon, Sr. and Gretchen (Holtman) Dillon.  He received an Associate Degree from Texarkana College.  Danny married Mary Ann Tiner on February 27, 1999 in Texarkana, Arkansas.  Mary Ann is the pastor of The Church of the Nazarene in Konawa.  The Chairman of the Seminole County Local Emergency Planning Committee stated that, “Tuesday, Konawa lost a small man with the heart of a giant.”  “He was known by many and was a good friend to the Public Safety community, an unselfish volunteer.  He supported fire, police and emergency management throughout the state.”  Danny was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Konawa and a member of the Statewide Emergency Management.  He was also a member of the LEPC and the local MRC.  Danny will be missed by his family and by the entire community. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Dillon of the home; two step-sons, Preston Hays of North Dakota and Michael Hays; three step-daughters, Dawn Hays of North Carolina, Jamie Redfearn of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Missy Gates of Seminole; his father-in-law, James Tiner of Texarkana, Arkansas; and numerous grandchildren.                             He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Martha Tiner.
