Curtis Dewayne Votaw, 59 year old lifelong Pleasant Grove, Oklahoma (west of Seminole) resident, passed from this life Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his home. He was born September 23, 1959 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to parents Junior Votaw and Loretta N. (McGirt) Votaw. Curtis graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1977. Curtis worked as a handyman and enjoyed nature. He was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma the Rewalke Band. Curtis is survived by two brothers, Cecil Votaw and his wife Becky of Seminole, Oklahoma, James Votaw and his wife Brenda of Maud, Oklahoma; by three sisters, Katherine McGirt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Ramona Johnson and her husband Ronald of Seminole, Oklahoma, Carol A. Votaw of Wewoka, Oklahoma; and by a host of other family and friends. Curtis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Alice McGirt, by his paternal grandparents, Essie Votaw Sr. and Stella Votaw, by his parents Junior and Loretta Votaw, by one brother Charles A. Votaw and by nephew Christopher A. Votaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Houston Tiger Sr. and Jason Tiger officiating the service. Curtis will be laid to rest by his parents at Wolf Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Skip Foster, Herman Foster, Jimmy Tiger, Matthew Foster, Junior Tiger, Jeremy Wright, Houston Tiger Jr. and Jason Tiger. Honorary Bearers will be: Ben Fox, Chad Votaw, Blake Votaw, Justin Votaw, Greg Votaw and Jeff Pack.
