Curtis O'Daniel

Curtis Lee O’Daniel, 86 year old lifelong Maud, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Thursday, January 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Maud, Oklahoma.  He was born June 24, 1931 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Emmitt Hearne “Jack” O’Daniel and Pearl Grace (Moore) O’Daniel. Curtis graduated from Maud High School in 1949 and worked for his parents who owned O’Daniel Grocery Store in Maud.  On August 20, 1950 Curtis married Wanda June Peters in the Fairview Church “The Old Rock Church” north west of Maud. Curtis became a real-estate broker for Farmers Land and Home.  He also would sell used farm equipment and owned and operated O’Daniel Power Swivel. Curtis and his wife Wanda had four sons and raised them helping with the family businesses which included farming and ranching, O’Daniel Mud Pit, O’Daniel Power Swivel and O’Daniel Tire Co. along with any other ventures Curtis would undertake. He loved his family with everything he had.  Curtis also enjoyed trout fishing, raising cattle (we're not sure if it was the cattle he enjoyed or just spending time with his boys). The O’Daniel family has been an icon in Maud, Oklahoma history for over 90 years.  Curtis was proud of the fact that Maud Public Schools had an O’Daniel in the school system for nearly that 90 years. Curtis leaves to cherish his legacy, his wife of 67 years Wanda (Peters) O’Daniel of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Ronda O’Daniel of Maud, Oklahoma, Barry O’Daniel of Maud, Oklahoma, Steve and Melissa O’Daniel of Maud, Oklahoma, Kevin and Carole O’Daniel of Seminole, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of other family and dear friends. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Pearl O’Daniel; by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Hazel Peters; by two brothers, Howard O’Daniel and Ray O’Daniel; by one sister, Billie Jean (O’Daniel) Watkins and by one great grandson, Luke Austin O’Daniel. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be: Shane O'Daniel, Heath O'Daniel, Brian O'Daniel, Jason O'Danel, Brett O'Daniel, Jason Brewer, Damien O'Daniel and Trevor O'Daniel. Honorary Bearers will be: Paul Lucy, Joel Wilson, Britt Waltman, Buddy Dodson, Nels Rodefeld and Eddie Stackhouse.
