Connie Sue Taylor, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at her home at the age of 85. She was born on April 11, 1939 in Tulsa, OK to Charles Vernon Tharp and Dorothy “Pat” Dean (Foor) Kirkbride. Connie married Andrew “A. C.” Taylor in January 1958. A.C. went before her to Heaven on September 27, 2023.
Connie was a devoted wife and mother who made a career out of being a stay-at-home mom. She was active in the PTA and served as a Den Mother for the cub scouts in Tulsa. When the family relocated to Canadian, TX and she discovered that there was no Girl Scout club in that community, she started one and recruited many mother and daughter teams to join. She was active with the Cookson Hills Christian Home in Canadian and, with her husband, served as substitute house parents on several occasions. She belonged to the Desk and Derrick club in the Texas Panhandle. Along the way she worked in an insurance company and at one of the local banks. When her husband decided to start his own business, Connie developed the bookkeeping system that helped to make her husband’s companies successful.
Connie enjoyed sewing, needle work and reading but her favorite thing to do was to plan excursions that she shared with her children, grandchildren, church groups and friends. She crisscrossed the nation with her husband and kids in the 70s and 80s, traveled to Europe three times, cruised to Alaska and visited Broadway in NYC. Her focus on these trips was history, architecture, art, Ferris Wheels and Ziplines. She celebrated her 80th birthday at the zipline over Turner Falls in Oklahoma. Her children, grandchildren and countless extended family and friends treasure these adventures.
Connie was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Canadian, TX and the First Baptist Church in Seminole, OK.
Connie is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew C. and Carol Taylor of Signal Mountain, TN and Christopher A. and Nataliya Taylor of Tulsa, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Amy Sue and Allen Hunt of Seminole, OK; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Lou Capps and Mike Elmore of Tahlequah, OK and Linda Felts of Tahlequah, OK; sister-in-law Doris Tharp and brother-in-law Bunk Ludwig.
