Colleen Frederick was born January 4, 1927 in Sulphur, Oklahoma, the oldest of eight children born to Jesse and Claudia (Goodnight) Gentry. She was married June 23, 1944 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to James W. Frederick. They lived in Oklahoma City until 1957 then returned to Sulphur where they owned and operated James Café’ and Archie’s Café’. After they sold the business, Colleen worked several years at Head Start in Sulphur. November 1, 2003 she became a resident of Artesian Nursing Home in Sulphur. On July 1, 2004 she moved to Seminole Care and Rehab Center where she resided at the time of her death. She was a member of Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur. Her husband of 60 years, James Frederick; her parents Jesse and Claudia Gentry; three brothers, Bill Gentry, Oscar Gentry and S.N. Gentry; and one sister, Carolyn Wright, preceded her in death. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sue Frederick of Seminole, Oklahoma; one grandson and his wife, Darren and Donna Frederick of Seminole, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Emily Barstow of Edmond, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Gracie Barstow of Edmond, Oklahoma, Colin and Chloe Frederick of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Louise Gentry of Sulphur, Oklahoma; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Leona Gilmore of Oroville, California, and Donna and Jim Rade of Porter, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dot Gentry of Oroville, California; and several nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends. Her extended family included her friends at Seminole Care and Rehab, especially her tablemates Virginia and Roy Smith, and Janice Stackhouse. She especially enjoyed the Sunday School Class taught by members of the First Baptist Church of Seminole. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seminole Care and Rehab and Artesian Nursing Home in Sulphur, for their watchful care. The family has designated, “The Bridge Building Fund,” at First Baptist Church, 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma 74868 as appropriate for memorial donations in memory of Colleen. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2010 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Russell Vicars will officiate the service.
