Clyde B. Whitfield

Clyde B. Whitfield, 90 Clyde Whitfield, a Seminole resident, passed away at his home Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the age of 90. Clyde was born November 8, 1921 at Indianola , Oklahoma to parents, James “Jim” Michael Whitfield and Flora Mae (Martin) Whitfield. Clyde moved to Seminole, Oklahoma one year ago from McAlester , Oklahoma . He married Barbara J. Ketchum at McAlester , Oklahoma on March 30, 1948. While in the Army during WW II he served in the Philippines in the Medical Core  where he contracted Malaria. After serving in the military he worked on a dairy in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma then moved back to McAlester where he worked on the T Bar ranch raising peanuts and cattle. Upon retiring from ranching he worked for the county until his final retirement. Clyde is survived by wife Barbara of the home, son, Carl B. Whitfield and his wife Marilyn of Seminole, Oklahoma , two daughters, Donna Rodgers of McAlester , Oklahoma and Terri Whitfield of Warsaw , Indiana . Six grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and one sister, Peggy Miller and her husband Bob Miller also survive Clyde . Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Flora Whitfield, two brothers, two sisters and two grandsons. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 17, 2011 at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Indianola, Oklahoma with Rev. Fred Morrison officiating. Burial will take place at Choate Prairie Cemetery located west of Indianola , Oklahoma . Serving as casket bearers: Steve Tripp, Miles Cathey, Dennis Whitfield, Kevin Whitfield, James Ballard and J.B.
