Cleopatra (Franklin) Johnston, longtime former Konawa resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Granbury Care Center in Granbury, TX at the age of 95.rnrnShe was born April 11, 1912 in Comanche, TX to Charles Sledge Franklin and Cleopatra (Isom) Franklin.rnrnShe married Otis Sidney Johnston on October 19, 1929 in Pauls Valley, OK and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1987. They were married for over 58 years and raised four children.rnrnMrs. Johnston was a faithful mother, wife and dedicated Christian. She was known and loved by many in the state of Oklahoma and was a resident of Konawa from 1954-2001, when she was no longer able to be in her own home due to her health problems.rnShe was a dedicated pastor's wife and served right along beside him for many years at a number of Pentecostal Holiness Churches in Oklahoma. She was also a friend and mentor to the residents of the various churches and small towns. rnrnIn her middle years, Cleo had her own drapery business and made beautiful custom draperies that decorated many lovely homes. She was a hard worker and accomplished many things for many people. She loved to play scrabble and had some great scrabble buddies from the local congregation of the church. rnMany loved her and especially enjoyed her cooking and baking. She was always a gentle, loving presence to all her family. Her daughters-in-law and her granddaughters, especially benefited from her help and many kindness. Those who were blessed to share her life, knew what it was really like to have and to be a friend to others. rnrnShe is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Remona Barrows of Big Bear, CA; two sons, Charles Sidney Johnston of League City, TX and Otis A. Johnston of Granbury, TX; two brothers, Eldred "Guy" Franklin of Mustang, OK and Cecil Franklin of Eugene, OR; rn12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends. rnShe was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rose Deahn Tilley on July 4, 1981 and four brothers, Carl Edwin, Wayne, Merle and Doyle Franklin.rnrnFuneral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Konawa Pentecostal Holiness Church. rnServing as casket bearers will be her grandsons. Honorary bearer will be Tim Brady.rnBurial will follow at Dora Cemetery.rnServices are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.rn Funeral Information: July 5, 2007, 10:00 AM
