Clarence M. “C.M.” (Chuck) Clark, a longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Regency Skilled Nursing and Therapy Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Clark battled congestive heart failure for several years. He was born August 27, 1929 in Meeker, Oklahoma to parents Milton E. Clark and Lula (Martin) Clark. Clark served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Upon entering the army, he was sent to the Adjutant General School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from there and received his top-secret clearance assignments. He was stationed in Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he served in the command headquarters until his discharge. In 1954, he joined the American National Bank & Trust Company in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1960, he graduated from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He then moved his family to Seminole in 1960 and began working for First National Bank. He was elected Vice President in 1964 and became a member of the Board of Directors of First National in 1970. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 1972 and became President in 1977. In 1981, he relinquished the President’s position to devote more time to his oil business. He continued to serve as Chairman of the Board of First National Bank until 1989. Clark assumed many leadership roles in the community. He served on the Board of the Oklahoma Bankers Association and was President of the Group 4 Bankers Association for Southeast Oklahoma. He was a charter member and past President of the Toastmasters Club and past President and Board member of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Seminole State College and became the first President of the SSC Educational Foundation. Clark served on the Seminole Public Schools Board of Education for 10 years including terms as Vice President and President. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club for 20 years. Earlier in life, Clark accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Since then, he has served as an Elder and Chairman of the Board at the First Christian Church of Seminole, where he has been a member for 20 plus years. He and his wife Sue were married in 1986 and have resided in Seminole since that time. He is survived by his children; Chris Clark and his wife Dava of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Pam Clark Fletcher and her husband Terry of Seminole, Oklahoma, four grandchildren; April Vail and her husband Paul of Edmond, Oklahoma, Derek Clark and his wife Carrie of Norman, Oklahoma, Casady Fletcher of Edmond, Oklahoma and Peyton Reese and her husband Dylan of Fort Smith, Arkansas, great-grandchildren; Tyler Crandall of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Carson and Connor Clark of Norman, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews. C.M. was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Clark, his sister Charlotte Parks and his first wife and the mother of his children, Betty Clark. A celebration of C.M.’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Glen Pence officiating. The family will have a private burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Casket bearers will be Derek Clark, Casady Fletcher, Tyler Crandall, Paul Vail, Dylan Reese and Terry Fletcher. Honorary casket bearers will be Brandon Moreland, Mike Vanlandingham, Carson Clark and Connor Clark. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the First Christian Church of Seminole.
