Clara Marie Cornelius, 93 Clara Marie Cornelius, long time Seminole county resident, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Clara was born July 26, 1923 at Payson, Oklahoma to parents, James Henry Alexander and Stella Darcus (Green) Alexander. Clara was a homemaker, a farmer and member of the Pentecostal church. Clara married Franklin Cornelius, on September 26, 1939 in Chandler, Oklahoma. Franklin passed away November 22, 2006. Clara, was a beautiful, loving and high spirited woman. Those closest to her called her “Memmie”. She loved life and lived hers to the fullest. Clara was only six months old when her mother died and left Clara and her brother Walter Lee Alexander to be raised by their grandparents, James Albert Alexander and Hattie (Redding) Alexander. Memmie could start a conversation with anyone. She loved meeting new people and loved kids. She worked in the hay fields, picked cotton, she loved to fish, crochet, cook, bake cakes, playing soft ball and most of all she loved her family. Clara loved her dogs Bella Rose and Zoe, she even adopted a little cat name “Nono”. Clara could sit on the porch and close her eyes and her humming birds would fly next to her and give her kisses. She loved to water the birds and she could call to the owls and they would answer back. Clara is survived by one daughter, Frankie Hollon of Seminole, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Clara is preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Stella Alexander; her husband Franklin Cornelius; one grandson, Brent Jones; one great grandson, Damien Anthony; one grandson-in-law, John Anthony; one daughter, Peggy Ann (Cornelius) Neu and one brother, Walter Lee Alexander. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Little Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Serving as casket bearers are: Steve Hamilton, Mark McCown, Dustin Hamilton, Justin Smith, Pat Skaggs and Mike Alexander.
