Claire Dawn (Compton) Curro, 87 year old Seminole County, Oklahoma resident passed from this life on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born December 1, 1929 in Bethesda, Maryland to Grace (Grandwell) Compton and Hamil Compton. Claire enjoyed a happy childhood in Maryland with her brother, Archie Compton. After receiving her education, Claire was one of the 19 million women who joined the workforce during World War II in what was termed the “Rosie the Riveter” movement. Later in life Claire worked at Love’s County Store from where she retired. Clair had worked for Love’s Country Store just off the I-40, 200 exit north of Seminole for 15 years. Claire’s special interests included enjoying many of God’s creations while spending time at Wewoka Lake. It was there that Claire fostered many great friendships and a special bond with the Shultz Family members. She also looked forward to attending the worship service at Bowlegs Baptist Church where she was a member. Surviving Claire is her son Carlton Craine of Texas, One Granddaugher, Raylene Shultz of the home and one Brother, Archie Compton of Gatherburg, Maryland. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole on Hwy 377. Casket Bearers will be: Robert Honsinger, Jim Allison, Jason Heim, Chris Davis, Jerry Watson and George Massey.
