Christopher Dwayne “ Chris “ Johnson, 37, Seminole resident died a hero in a tragic accident on Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, 2009, while he was helping a woman stuck on side of the road during the recent winter storm. Chris was born July 3, 1972 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Mike and Neoma (Weaver) Johnson. Chris married Teresa (Jones) Johnson on December 19, 1990 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Chris attended McLoud Public Schools and graduated from McLoud High School and then went to Seminole State College where he received an associate’s degree. He then attended the University of Oklahoma. Chris was an IT Technician for Claimetrics a division of Express Personnel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chris served his county in the U. S. Army from 1990 to 1992 before receiving an honorable medical discharge. Chris was a wonderful Husband and Father and loved his family very much. He was also loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Chris moved to Seminole from Shawnee in July of 1999 with his family. His wife Teresa Johnson of the home survives Chris. He is also survived by his parents: Mike and Neoma Johnson of Shawnee, Oklahoma., Grandmother, Lorene Johnson of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Four sons, Brian Johnson, Corey Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jr. and Jon-Michael Johnson all of the home in Bowlegs, Oklahoma and two daughters, Brittany Johnson and Chelsea Johnson of the home in Bowlegs. Three brothers and a sister-in-law also survive him: Mike Johnson, Jr. of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, John Johnson of Bowlegs, and Robert Johnson and wife Susan of Earlsboro, Oklahoma. A sister Amandaand Brother-in-law James Renfro and a brother and sister-in-law Tim and Terri Hale also survive him. He is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert Powell and Jennifer Louise Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Justin, Taylor, Amanda, Jacob, Hanna and Janie Johnson, Tim Jones, Heidi Jones and Sarah Jones, Scott Renfro, Timaree Hale and Dustin Hale. His grandparents, Almus Henry Weaver and Pauline Williams and William Leonard Johnson, preceded him in death. There will be a Rosary service Monday, December 28, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Basil Kennan, O.S.B. officiating an a Funeral mass at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Father Donald Wolf, O.S.B., officiating, with burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Family would like to thank the Seminole County sheriffs department and Seminole police department and all other law enforcement that assisted the family Christmas Eve. And especially Trooper Brad Sutterfield. A Memorial in memory of Chris Johnson has been set up at Bank of the West in Seminole, Oklahoma for any memorial donations.
