Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, Cleve Lynn Bounds, Jr., age 93 and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. He will receive full military honors. C. L. was born February 5, 1925 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Cleve L. Bounds and Annie (Patterson) Bounds. After high school, C. L. made a life-long career of serving his country in the U. S. Military. He began his military career in the Army Air Corp on July 28, 1943 in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic and received a World War II Victory Medal; C. L. served in the Air Force, and later, became a Chief Petty Officer for the Navy, and retired April 2, 1964. He also served as Vice Commander of the Desert Storm VFW Post in Konawa. He married Treva Pearl Crawford November 25, 1954 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He is survived by one daughter, Michele Reneau of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Floyd Newton Brown of Pawhuska who was like a brother to him; five grandchildren, Sheri McKeel, LeAnn Davis, Jack Medearis, Jacob Medearis, and Jarod Medearis; and three great grandchildren, Bailey Davis, Cooper McKeel, and Clayton Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve L. and Annie Bounds; wife, Treva Bounds; one son, Terrence Lee Groves; three brothers, Troy, Tommy, and Burl Bounds; three sisters, Willie Sweat, Nola Bumpus, and Dorris Colvin.
