Charles Edwards Morrison

Charles Edwards “Augie” Morrison, Sr. was born to Buster and Dora Thomas on February 26, 1959 in Maud, Oklahoma. Augie attended Nobletown and New Lima Schools. He passed away on January 19, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He united with Molly Jackson in 1978 and to this union, six children were born. He worked as a CNA at Colonial Estates in Shawnee, Oklahoma and at Sunset Nursing Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma for many years and he also worked as an auto mechanic. Augie accepted Christ at an early age and he was presently a member of Open Arms of Faith Church were he served well. Augie loved to sing his favorite song, “Christian Automobile”. He was in several singing groups and the last was Brotherly Love. He loved being around his children, grandchildren, he loved to fish with a rod and reel or noodle with his hands. Augie was preceded in death by his brother; Clarence “Chic” Morrison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and sister, Sarah Thomas of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Augie leaves to cherish his memory his best friend, Terri Howell; three daughters, Cassandra Daniel of Joplin Missouri, Charlene Morrison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Charmaine Estell and her husband, Clarence of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six sons, Charles Morrison, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Emmanuel Morrison of Lawton, Oklahoma, Julius Morrison of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, RayShawn Morrison, DeShawn Morrison, Joshua Morrison all of Shawnee, Oklahoma; adopted son, Jerome Weatherspoon, adopted daughter, Kayla Howell of Shawnee, Oklahoma; father and mother, Buster and Dora Thomas of Joplin, Missouri; six sisters, Flo Retta Thomas, Diane Thomas, Kathy Thomas all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jenetta Sadler of Shawnee, Oklahoma and two sisters in California; six brothers, Buster Thomas, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eddie Thomas and his wife Melissa of Joplin, Missouri, Patrick Thomas and Devin of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Shawn Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Darren and Darryel Hamilton; 19 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Famous Cochran serving as Master of Ceremonies  and Rev. A.T. Watts officiating. Burial will take place at St. Matthews Cemetery which is located east of Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be :Trenton Thomas, Jerome Weatherspoon, Clarence Morrison, Jr., Lonzo Jackson, Elmer Gentry and Brandon Thomas. Honorary bearers will be: Pat Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Buster Thomas, Jr., Shawn Thomas, Jamelle Carter and Jimmie Carter. Flower Girls will be: Nyesha Van, Terriona Fields, Shadacia Daniels, Desiree Morrison and Kylee Morrison. Honorary Flower Girls will be: Diane Thomas, Floretta Thomas, Christy Morrison, Candi Wolfe, Kathy Thomas and Brandi Wolfe.
