Charles Edward Lamirand, age 82 and a resident of Asher, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette, Oklahoma under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Charles will receive full military honors at the cemetery. Charles was born in Wanette, Oklahoma to Elmore Travis Lamirand and Linda G. (VanSchuyver) Lamirand. He earned an Associate Degree and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer -E7 after serving for more than twenty-two years. Charles also retired as Captain for the Department of Corrections in Lexington. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Blythe on March 5, 1955 in Purcell, Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death January 25, 2015. Charles had a passion for old tractors and farming, and he loved being with his family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Terry Lamirand of Wellington, Kansas and Billy Lamirand and wife, Connie of Asher, Oklahoma; three daughters, Carol Davis of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Carrie Malone and husband, Ronald of Asher, and Bobbie Wauahdooah and husband, Aaron of Asher; two brothers, Leroy “Roy” Reynolds of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Charles “Ray” Reynolds of Newalla, Oklahoma; two sisters, Glenda Briscoe of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Sharon Gage and husband, Claude of Harrah, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lamirand; parents, Elmore and Linda Lamirand; one son, Charles Edward Lamirand, Jr.; and one great granddaughter, Sadi Malone.
